drawing blood in hospital
was in hospital yesterday coz of bad belly pain (that i thought might be peptic ulcers).
and all i care to remember is the blood test.
Filipino male nurse - "Relax your arm and squeeze your fist."
it took me a moment, but i managed it.
male nurse stares intently at the bulge that appears - "yeeesss... yeeesssss... oooh thats a nice vein you got there...*deep breath* gooood..."
i am so glad i'm not a male nurse.

the term 'Pinoy' is sometimes used by Filipinos to refer to themselves or their fellow man.
unlike 'nigger' or 'whitetrash' in American society, 'Pinoy' is a positive term and is often used in sport drink or beer commercials or in general social situations of positive feeling.
it is non-biased towards gender.
Similar African-American terms include 'Homey' and 'Brother'. but unlike these terms, 'Pinoy' does not neccesarily preclude the presence of a prior relationship between the parties who refer to each other as such.
it is also more a declaration of one's pride towards being Filipino, or one's acceptance and acknowledgment of another as a proud Filipino.
in general, anyone of any culture or ethnicity can safely call a Filipino (even ones you do not know) a 'Pinoy' without fear of negative reprecussions.
